Arrco is a name steeped in the golden age of American card-playing. Founded in Chicago in 1927 as Arrow Playing Card Company (renamed Arrco in the 1930s), the brand quickly set itself apart with its signature lattice-back design—a geometric, art deco pattern symbolizing precision and style throughout the mid-20th century. Arrco cards became famous for their “Plastic Coated Duratone” finish and exceptionally smooth, durable handling, trusted by magicians, poker pros, clubs, and even military units who valued wipe-clean practicality and crisp feel.
Arrco’s reach was so extensive that by the 1950s and 1960s, their decks were ubiquitous in club games, bowling alleys, neighborhood bridge nights, and family kitchens. Their poker and pinochle editions were known for fairness and readability, helping generations share iconic American games.
When the United States Playing Card Company acquired Arrco in 1987, the decks retained their classic style and robust construction. Even today, new reprints honor the visual charm and historic snap that made Arrco the “secret handshake” among serious players, magicians, and collectors.
