Vanda's Polaris Winter Solstice Playing Cards combine a dark night-sky palette with vivid Pantone neon colors and bold modern woodcut-inspired artwork. Released in 2019, Winter Solstice is one of the most visually distinctive editions in the Polaris series.
The borderless card back uses repeating cyan, neon yellow, white, and black geometric forms radiating around a central star. The design becomes especially dramatic in fans and spreads, where the repeated shapes produce sweeping bands of color across the cards.
Four-Color Custom Faces
Winter Solstice carries its color system throughout the deck rather than limiting the custom artwork to the backs. Each suit receives its own bright accent color, creating an immediately recognizable four-color deck while maintaining standard ranks and suits for normal card play.
The custom court cards use stylized geometric figures against deep navy backgrounds. Hearts, Clubs, Spades, and Diamonds each receive distinctive neon treatments, giving the courts a cohesive appearance while making the individual suits easy to distinguish.
